Texas Gov. Greg Abbott will host a roundtable discussion about law enforcement on Thursday.
During the roundtable, Abbott is expected to outline his legislative priorities regarding public safety. The discussion is set to begin at 12:15 p.m. at the Texas Department of Public Safety in Austin.
Participants will include Steve McCraw, executive director of DPS, Jennifer Tharp, the criminal district attorney in Comal County, and several police union leaders.
Abbott has criticized Austin City Council s August vote to cut its police department budget by $150 million and reallocate funds to areas like violence prevention and permanent housing services.
