Being here at Texas ChalleNGe Academy has made me realize how proud I am of myself and of all the other cadets who have taken on this huge challenge with me. Sadly, time here is no longer our friend, and our days here will end on June 17th.

When I first came to Texas ChalleNGe Academy, I can’t believe how scared, sad, and lonely I was. I felt all of it. This was my plan Z. I had used up all of my other plans. After getting suspended from school yet again, I broke down in tears and told my mom that I needed help.

Inside Texas ChalleNGe Academy live many cadets from all over the state of Texas, and each cadet has her own personal reasons for committing to the program. As a female here at TCA, living with 21 other girls can be difficult because we are each so different. But I remind myself that this is a temporary stop on my journey to success.

In need of a reset

Being at Texas ChalleNGe Academy was goal that I set for myself. I voluntarily joined the Academy and am happy that I made the decision to come here. I have learned from being here that some cadets were somewhat forced to attend, but for me that wasn’t the case.

Jan. 15, 2023 is a day that I will remember forever. I was sixteen, standing in the parking lot of Rice High School with my mother by my side.
