Jonathan Davenport (#49) of Blairsville, Ga., denied Texan Tyler Erb Sunday, leading flag to flag the 50 lap Wild West Shootout finale at Arizona Speedway in his Nutrient/Longhorn Super Late Model. The victory worth $25,000 was JD s third of the six races in eight days out in the Arizona desert, which garnered the former three time Lucas Oil Dirt Late Model National Champion a $10,000 bonus from Keyser Manufacturing.
Davenport also won the points championship for the week which paid an additional $3,000.
Erb had to rally from 11th at the start and made things interesting muscling past Brian Shirley and Ricky Thornton, Jr. on a mid-race restart, to pull behind JD.

The first really full weekend hit for race fans of all calipers Saturday as everything from Super Late Models, to Crate s to Midget Sprints raced across America. At Volusia Speedway Park outside Daytona, Fla., Saturday, the World of Outlaw Late Model series wrapped up its 2021 season opener weekend with a $10,000 Sunshine Nationals race. Virginia s Kyle Strickler held off Tennessean Scott Bloomquist for the W . Fellow Tennessean Jimmy Owens of Newport was fifth overall, while Dale McDowell of Chickamauga was ninth. In the twin Crate Late Model $10,000 race, Michael Page of Douglasville, Ga., repeated his Thursday night run against 63 other 604/GM Performance-powered raceteams. Kyle Bronson (Thursday s WoOLM winner) was runner up with Tennessean s Mack McCarter, Cory Hedgecock and Jason Welshan rounding out the Top 5 respectively.

T-Erb-O was runner up to Davenport Wednesday night, who s now down to a $10,000 bonus, if the Georgian can pull off victories Saturday and Sunday. Saturday s race pays $5,000, but Sunday s finale pays $25,000 to the victor. Only Davenport has enough wins already to earn the WWS bonus that topped out at $250,000 for five of six race wins. If JD pulls off victories the next two races, his trip to the desert will have netted his team an estimated $45,000 in earnings for the eight day jaunt.

Jonathan Davenport (#49) of Blairsville, Ga. held off Ricky Thornton Jr. for the first victory of the week Saturday and Wednesday it was Texan Tyler Erb hot on Superman s Cape during the feature race. If Davenport puts up another victory this week in the desert, he ll earn a $10,000 bonus whereas five victories of the six races will produce a $25,000 bonus. Any racer that puts together six consecutive victories whilst racing in the desert of Arizona could earn up to a quarter of a million dollars in bonus prize money.
