CITRUS COUNTY, FL In the midst of fighting a major wildfire that s been creeping precariously close to homes in Crystal River over the past two days, crews with the Citrus County Fire Rescue were diverted to Homosassa after a Hummer loaded with hoarded gasoline burst into flames.
According to Citrus County Fire Rescue, the 2004 Hummer H2 caught fire Wednesday at 10:52 a.m. as it was leaving a Homosassa gas station.
The Citrus County, Florida fire department responded to a vehicle fire late in the morning on May 12.
The call came at 10:52 am and Citrus County Fire and Rescue said the fire was out by 11:09 am. Although the cause of the fire has not been revealed, the Hummer was carrying four 5-gallon gasoline cans that the driver had filled up at the Texaco Food Mart on West Grover Cleveland Boulevard.
Pictures of the vehicle’s interior show multiple gas cans. They were melted by the heat of the fire.
Unfortunately, there was one injury. The person injured refused transport, though, against medical advice.

CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. â A hummer in Citrus County caught fire on Wednesday morning right after the driver filled up four five-gallon gasoline containers.
According to fire rescue officials, the vehicle caught fire around 10:52 a.m., right after the driver filled up the four gas containers at the Texaco Food Mart on W. Grover Cleveland Blvd.

Officials said one person in the vehicle was injured and refused transport for treatment against medical advice.

A Hummer burst into flames in Florida right after filling up several gas cans, according to fire officials.
Citrus County Fire Rescue crews were dispatched for the SUV fire in Homosassa just before 11 a.m. Wednesday and found a 2004 Hummer H2 engulfed in flames, officials said.
Firefighters found four, 5-gallon containers in the back of the Hummer that had just been filled at a Texaco Food Mart near the scene, a fire official said.
