BOYNTON BEACH A man who once faced federal charges in connection to a 2018 fatal shooting in Boynton Beach now faces local charges in the homicide, court records show.
Authorities on Wednesday arrested Samson Hyland, 24, on one count of first-degree murder and one count of being a felon in possession of a weapon in the Dec. 2, 2018, death of 24-year-old Jarrod Jermaine Bozeman Jr.
During his first appearance hearing Thursday morning, Circuit Judge Charles Burton ordered that Hyland be held without bail.
Hyland and his co-defendant, 28-year-old Tevin Laing, were facing federal drug-trafficking charges until that case was dismissed in July, according to court records. It was unclear Thursday why the charges were dropped.
