Busia County Assembly Speaker Bernard Wamalwa has urged residents to attend public participation forums next week and give out their views before the BBI draft bill is returned to the assembly.
Busia, Kakamega and Vihiga county assemblies have set in motion the process to pass the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) Constitutional Amendment Bill, 2020.
The Justice and Legal Affairs House Committees will now start collecting views from locals next week across the seven constituencies - Matayos, Butula, Budalang’i, Funyula, Teso South, Teso North and Nambale - as the ward reps lay the ground for passing the document.

Busia Members of County Assembly tabled the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) Constitutional Amendment Bill, 2020 on Thursday and committed it to a House Committee.
The Justice and Legal Affairs Committee will now start collecting views from locals next week across the seven constituencies including Matayos, Butula, Budalang’i, Funyula, Teso South, Teso North and Nambale.
Siaya was the first county to pass the BBI bill on Wednesday.

The General Service Unit (GSU) commander killed by bandits in Kapedo was buried on Saturday in an emotional send-off in Busia County.
Santulino Tebakol Emadau, who was until his death the GSU Deputy Operations Commander, was killed in an ambush by bandits moments after a meeting with local leaders.
The burial in Aciit village, Teso South was attended by senior officers in the National Police Service and politicians.

Deputy President William Ruto has cautioned Kenyans to be wary of Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).
Addressing mourners during the burial of Regina Akumu in Funyula, Busia County on Saturday, Ruto said there was a need for grey areas in the BBI report to be looked into before referendum is held.
Ruto wondered why up to now, Kenyans were yet to get copies of the document so that they can read and make an informed decision afterwards.
