Driving his white Toyota Prius down hot U.S. highways, Tesfa Wondemagegnehu is, in fact, driven.
In the midst of a 60-day solo journey to over 40 cities, his ultimate aim is to listen and learn what repair looks like in Black communities across the country a goal more pressing than a summer spent comfortably at his Northfield home. Growing up in Memphis, I ve seen people in my family and community who have experienced extreme hardships, said Wondemagegnehu, an assistant professor of music at St. Olaf College.
MINNESOTA PUBLIC RADIO’s two music services – KCMP (THE CURRENT)/MINNEAPOLIS and 24-hour streaming service YOUR CLASSICAL have announced plans for special programming throughout the month of JUNE to honor BLACK MUSIC MONTH.THE CURRENT will be presenting: GOOD TIMES: THE EVOLUTION OF BLACK MUSIC a weekly show hosted by guest host DEBONAIRE and produced by DERRICK STEVENS. YOUR CLASSICAL will be presenting: VOICES RISING: A CHORAL AFFIRMATION OF BLACK LIVES – on JUNE .

A Festival of 9 Lessons and Carols, Live from the Choir of King’s College Cambridge

Listne to a live, world-wide Christmas Eve broadcast of a service of Biblical readings, carols, and related seasonal ‘classical’ music (anthems a cappella and with organ accompaniment, and congregational hymns). Hosted by Michael Barone, this special is presented by one of the world’s foremost choirs of men and boys and performed in an acoustically and architecturally renowned venue.
Stories of the Season Told Through Music
