Wednesday, February 10, 2021 Editor’s Note: This is the second in a series of reports about the Eureka Springs City Advertising and Promotion Commission. Emails quoted in this report have not been edited for punctuation or spelling. The Eureka Springs City Advertising and Promotion Commission considered a motion to vacate the seat held by Greg Moon at its Jan. 27 meeting. Although then-commission chair Carol Wright declared the seat vacant after a roll call vote on the motion, she never actually voted yes or no. That left the vote count at 3-2-1 in favor of vacating the seat and left Moon’s status on the commission in question.

Local News: Eureka Springs city council moves forward with subdivision (2/2/21)

Tuesday, February 2, 2021 The Eureka Springs City Council is on board with the new Pine Crest Subdivision. On Monday, Jan. 25, the council heard an application from Jay Gustin for the subdivision, located off Pivot Rock Road. Council member Terry McClung moved to prepare an ordinance to approve the subdivision and city clerk Ann Armstrong explained that the proposed ordinance is a draft because city attorney Tim Weaver hasn’t had a chance to look over it yet. McClung asked Gustin if he can wait two weeks for the subdivision to be approved and Gustin said that would be fine with him. McClung suggested deferring the issue to the council’s next meeting, where the council would complete all three readings of the ordinance.

Dec. 2019 Nov. 2020 Dec. 2020 Jan. 13, 2021 • CAPC plans a special meeting to address the position Jan. 20, 2021 • CAPC votes to pay Johnson a contract rate from Jan. 1 through Jan. 31 Interim director Gina Rambo said she believed Johnson was transitioning from contract to full-time work, something the commission continues to debate. The commission agreed to hold a special meeting on Jan. 20 to discuss the events coordinator and Auditorium manager position, where Johnson s pay was a hot topic. Jan. 20 meeting The commission s Jan. 20 special meeting kicked off with commissioner Harry Meyer asking for someone to fill him in on what was happening. Along with commissioner Melissa Greene, Meyer was recently appointed to the commission by the Eureka Springs City Council for a one-year term. Commissioner James DeVito described how the COVID-19 pandemic affected the city, saying everything shut down in March 2020.
