The Voice of Indiana County INDIANA SCHOOL BOARD GIVES PRELIMINARY APPROVAL TO 2021-22 BUDGET By Hometown2 May 10, 2021 | 10:15 PM Monday night, the Indiana School Board gave preliminary approval to their 2021-2022 budget, which contains no tax increase for the district’s citizens. This marks the fourth consecutive year that the district has held the line on property taxes, and the district is estimated to have a budget surplus by $1,706,575.  Audit and finance committee chairperson Julia Trimarchi-Cuccaro said that the budget for the district is in good shape. The budget will be approved at board’s special meeting on June 28th, 2021. In other business, the board approved option A for the Eisenhower entrance way project, directing architects to proceed with the design based on the design that showed new construction in the courtyard in the front of the building.  The vote came 5-4.  Tom Harley voted against it, saying more work needed to be done with the design.

Weyburn works crews do spring road work in January

City engineer Jen Wilkinson said the unusually mild weather has caused freezing and thawing to occur, and has created ice ruts on a number of residential streets. “The city crews were removing the ice ridges which can create road degradation. It’s preventive maintenance to help us out later on,” she explained, pointing out this work is normally done in spring time, and helps to prevent potholes and other road problems from developing. Mayor Marcel Roy asked about the visibility of boulevards on Government Road near Railway Avenue and Souris Avenue, noting that when snow builds up it can be difficult to see where they are.
