With the Memorial Day Weekend approching, there are some towns that are still limiting activities, but in Putnam County they have a full slate of events planned including parades.

PUTNAM COUNTY, NY Several ceremonies are scheduled Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Putnam County to commemorate veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice for the United States.
The John Morris Memorial Watchfire Vigil runs 6 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday through Sunday. It begins with an opening ceremony at 7 p.m. Friday. Flag retirement will take place throughout the vigil, which is hosted by the Putnam County Joint Veterans Council.
On Sunday, VFW Post 1374 and Auxiliary of Carmel and American Legion Post 270 will host two events: a 9:30 a.m. ceremony at the monument on Terry Hill Road in Kent and an 11 a.m. ceremony at the Post Home, 32 Gleneida Ave., Carmel. Refreshments will follow the second ceremony.
