Saturday's runoff elections had voters deciding on some hot-button issues in Williamson County, including whether Georgetown will get three new schools and if the Taylor City Council will get a pay raise.
Earlier this year, more than 1300 residents signed a petition opposing the Taylor City Council's move to give itself a 4,000 percent pay raise. That inspired another petition, presented to council this week.
In August, council members voted 3-2 to increase council member's compensation to $500 for every meeting they attend and $750 for every meeting the mayor attends.
Taylor residents are voicing their opposition to the city council's decision to increase their pay by 4,000 percent. Over 1300 people have signed a petition against the decision, which was approved by the City.
