would? i: republicans right now to be gracious to the nominee. it s in a go through no matter what you do. be gracious, don t be like the democrats, don t torture the nominee. i thought that kamala harris would ve been great, it was the first thing that jumped in my mind. she could be a terrific supreme court justice, she s only in her 50s, she would be there for 30 years. i think you d be terrific. it s a role fit for her. it s not gonna happen. and they ve already put out the d.c. circuit judge, brown jackson, the south carolina district judge. all black women, it s interesting, and steph in the affirmative action as they are considering the affirmative
political this has done enormous damage to our democracy, this whole mess. and the democrats are not blameless here. because you think it has been so damaged, do you think brett kavanaugh should be seated on the supreme court? i have to tell you, if i were in brett kavanaugh s shoes i would say i would not assume the job. you would bow out? i would have, and i might bow out after the vote, by the way, because this is going to be a terrible cloud on him. i think brett kavanaugh would make a terrific supreme court justice and i am for his nomination, but what this process is doing for the court really saddens me. back to you. do you feel that if somebody who wants to sit on the supreme

independent. she was a spectacular teacher. right from the get go as an assistant professor, she enlivened the students. she demonstrated real whit. she demonstrated great character. she was a terrific colleague. i think she is a great lawyer and will be a terrific supreme court justice. a lot of people say they don t know what her personal views are on some of the more sensitive issues out there. did she advertise those views to you? i think the better way of thinking about elena is to look at some of her early writing. which was mostly about the first amendment. and in that writing, what you see is somebody who s interested in addressing and solving analytical legal problems in a nonprejudged way. and i think that s basically kagan. she is interested in grappling the difficult issues and doesn t have an ax to grind. one of the early articles on the issue of hate speech, she
senator hatch said he heard it somewhere. look, i think she d be a terrific supreme court justice. i don t know if the president is giving any thought to appointing her or being on the supreme court. but other than that, i think it will be a nifty idea. think mark is right. a lot of these republicans are quite fond of her. she would probably be less troubled getting confirmed than someone else. a lot of great justices, many of them came out of politics. justice warren is one of the great supreme court justices of all time. a man that overturned schools in this country with the governor of california, republican at that. so it would be it s a great idea. i just don t know if anybody other than mark mckenyan like that s idea. the white house was quick to put the brakes on this earlier. what do you think their reservations were?
