3:10 p.m. |Gov. DeSantis office: Publix PAC money not linked to launch of COVID-19 vaccine program
DeSantis held a news conference last week inside a Publix in Ocala to announce that the state had formed a partnership in which the pharmacies at stores in four counties would deliver COVID-19 vaccinations.
This week, DeSantis has spoken outside Publix stores throughout the state, including the Panhandle, Sumter County and Collier County to promote an expansion of the program, which as of Wednesday included more than 100 stores in 10 counties.
Those appearances came a month after Publix’s political action committee contributed $100,000 to the Friends of Ron DeSantis PAC, as the Miami New Times recently reported. The Publix PAC also made $25,000 donations to DeSantis’ committee in November 2019 and January 2020, state records show.
