The board members, along with close coworkers and friends of Illick, spoke about the tenacity and kindness she brought to her advocacy work that will be missed dearly by the community. âSheâs going to be missed incredibly. She was somebody who was always there when you needed her. She was kind and gentle and forceful and itâs a rare person who can be that,â said Gail Albert, the chair of the Natural Resources and Conservation Committee who worked closely with Illick.

Death of boaters on Vermont creek ruled accidental

Updated: 7:08 PM EDT Apr 28, 2021 The deaths of two people in a Chittenden County creek last week have been ruled accidental, according to documents released by state police Wednesday. The Chief Medical Examiner s Office ruled that both 70-year-old Martha Illick and 71-year-old Terrence Dinnan died of cold water immersion and drowning after their canoe overturned on the frigid body of water. According to Vermont State Police, neither the creek s temperature was approximately 35 degrees at the time of the accident and neither boater was wearing a life vest. Investigators with state police also said that both Illick and Dinnan attempted to help each other and their 3-year-old grandson when the boat overturned. Their grandson had a life vest and was able to swim to shore before going to a vehicle at the nearby home of his grandparents. He was found wet, but unharmed, by police more than an hour later.
