Man wanted for Christmas Day robbery, gunfire in Tuscaloosa captured after month on the run

A 24-year-old west Alabama man sought since December is now in custody.
Authorities said he fired shots during a Christmas Day robbery at a Skyland Boulevard car wash. Several days later he led officers on a chase through residential Alberta.
At the time of his alleged crimes in December, Williams was free on bond in a case pending in Sumter County. That case involves charges of murder, two of attempted murder and one second-degree criminal mischief.
In the Friday, Dec. 25 shooting and robbery, witnesses and a victim told Tuscaloosa police that a man fired a gun after stealing Christmas gifts and other items from the victim. Investigators quickly developed Williams as the suspect. Officers attempted to apprehend him the following Wednesday during a daytime traffic stop in front of the department’s East Precinct on University Boulevard East.

A search is underway after a suspect refused to surrender to officers in Tuscaloosa Wednesday afternoon.
Terrence Cortez Williams, 24, is wanted in connection a Christmas morning holdup. He is charged with attempted murder and first-degree robbery.
Officers were called to a car wash in the 1600 block of Skyland Boulevard East at 1:45 a.m. Friday, said Tuscaloosa police spokeswoman Stephanie Taylor. A victim and multiple witnesses reported that a man fired a gun after stealing several items from the victim.
TPD’s Criminal Investigations Division developed Williams as a suspect and have been searching for him all week, Taylor said. Just after 2 p.m. Wednesday, officers, with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Task Force, located Williams and attempted to conduct a traffic stop in front of the police department’s East Precinct on University Boulevard East.
