1. Sarasota Film Festival Friday Night Street Party
B-52s singer-songwriter Fred Schneider, who longtime SFF attendees will recall performed with his trailblazing new wave band at the festival in 2004, is the celebrity host of the Sarasota Film Festival’s block party in The Rosemary District, outside the festival’s brand new office. This event will feature performances by what’s being billed as “a host of notable musicians” with food trucks offering cuisine from around the world. Mantra Terrace Hotel Brisbane has reopened its doors to reveal a multi-million-dollar renovation.
The hotel’s new look has been designed to appeal to both business and leisure guests seeking comfort, convenience and sophistication in the heart of Brisbane.
With the help of Singapore-based architectural designer, FDAT Architects, the hotel has upgraded its 85 guestrooms and suites and refreshed its public spaces, restaurant and bar.
Inspired by urban retreats, subtropical climates and beachside resorts, the hotel interiors feature a fusion of tropical styling and natural woven pieces, while brass metal fittings give a touch of industrial luxe.
The mix of light wall colours, rattan-like neutral-coloured fabrics, a sandy beach shade of carpet, and multi-purpose open shelving add to the light and spacious feel of the guestrooms.
