A health center connected to the Lac Courte Oreilles Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians is immune from a False Claims Act suit accusing the tribe of firing an employee in retaliation for calling attention to alleged Medicare and Medicaid billing fraud, the Seventh Circuit ruled Thursday.
A federal judge in Wisconsin dismissed on Wednesday a wrongful termination suit against the Lac Courte Oreilles Community Health Center, finding the organization immune from those allegations because it is an entity of the local Native American tribe.
