Florida Army vet of Afghanistan gunned down on daughter s 4th birthday: reports

This father of three lost his life but survived Afghanistan. Detective Teresa Sprague, Orlando police Orlando police Chief Orlando Rolón decried the uptick in violence. Joseph Torres, 34, was allegedly gunned down on his daughter s birthday. (Orlando Police Department ) A military veteran and a youth in their prime have been affected by violence this past weekend. Enough is enough, Rolón said during the news conference, according to FOX 35.  Engram is a former Marine, according to WKMG.  Torres’ friend Eric Garcia was appalled to hear the suspect was also a veteran. He was supposed to have honor and respect for just humans’ period, and for that to happen, it’s just unfortunate that another veteran does that to another veteran, Garcia said. You don’t get a pass for killing someone senselessly. That did not have to happen at all.

Former Marine Arrested in Killing of Another Veteran in Orlando

Getty Image The Orlando Sentinel | By Grace Toohey A 25-year-old former member of the Marine Corps was arrested Wednesday in the fatal shooting of another military veteran, who was killed in downtown Orlando early Sunday while walking to get empanadas, according to the Orlando Police Department. Detectives say Shaun Engram Jr. attempted to stop 34-year-old Joseph Torres from walking through a crowded downtown sidewalk about 2:30 a.m. Sunday, prompting a heated exchange between the men, who did not know each other and had never met, said OPD Detective Teresa Sprague. The crowd around Engram “turned on” Torres, starting to beat him up, Sprague said, until Engram pulled out a handgun and shot Torres four times, killing him.
