Angie s Kitchen closes its doors after nearly 60 years in Waterloo

WATERLOO After nearly 60 years of serving the region, Angie’s Kitchen has turned off the oven and closed its doors for good. Sunday marked the last day open for the family business in Waterloo. “Our motto was that when you came into Angie’s you knew the same faces were going to be there, 60 years later,” said owner Teresa Huegle, who runs the restaurant with her husband Bob. The staple of Uptown Waterloo has employed thousands of people over the years and left customers with many memories. “People maybe came first for the food but they certainly kept coming back for the friendship,” said customer Susan Schefer.

Angie s in Uptown Waterloo closing down

One of the oldest establishments in Uptown Waterloo is shutting its doors. Angie s restaurant in Uptown Waterloo will close later this month after 59 years, selling the property and making way for a new development. The business was started by Angie and Bill Graham in 1962, and has since been passed down to their daughter Teresa Huegle, and her husband Rob. Teresa said in a release loyal customers, and staff made it possible for us to be successful for such a long time. She adds, the restaurant had opened when she was thirteen years old and to group up with the staff brings tears to her eyes. But, this is something they have been thinking about for a while, saying after the first wave of Covid, it gave us time to reflect on how we were doing, what we were doing and what was going to be  important.
