Portland Water Bureau picks second woman as top engineer in 150 years May 21 2021
Jodie Inman will take a commanding post at the Water Bureau as it grapples with major projects, including a new treatment plant.
A new chief engineer will ensure that Portland s labyrinthine network of 2,200 miles of pipes keep the water flowing from 53 tanks and reservoirs to nearly 1 million customers.
Jodie Inman, a 13-year veteran of the bureau who was selected as chief engineer last month, was hailed by city staff as the second woman to occupy the chief technical role in the government agency s 150-year history. I m honored to be the second woman in this role, she said. I think it speaks to the efforts that the Water Bureau, the city and the industry are making in being more inclusive.
