GUWAHATI: Asom Gana Parishad AGP president and state minister Atul Bora today filed his nomination papers from the Bokakhat Constituency.
Elected as the President of the regional party in 2014, Bora is currently the Minister for Agriculture and Veterinary in the Cabinet of Assam Government led by Sarbananda Sonowal.
Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal accompanied Bora while he filed his nomination papers from Bokakhat Legislative Assembly Council LAC.

Jailed peasant leader Akhil Gogoi will contest the upcoming Assam Assembly election from Sivasagar constituency as a candidate of the newly formed political party Raijor Dal.
Akhil Gogoi is currently lodged in jail for over a year after the NIA booked him on charges of sedition and terrorism under provisions of the UAPA, following his involvement in the anti-CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act) protests in Assam.
Gogoi was booked under the stringent UAPA during the protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in December 2019 and has been in judicial custody since then.
