THERE will be hundreds of walkers, joggers and runners out around the coastal path this weekend, as part of the Isle of Wight Challenge. This popular annual event is one of a number of long-distance routes in the Ultra Challenge series and usually takes place in May but Covid restrictions meant this year s event was rescheduled. The Isle of Wight Challenge attracts participants from all over the UK and beyond. Many challenge participants are doing it to raise money for charity and there are quarter (26km or 32km), half (52km or 54km) and full distances (106km) available, as well as the new Southern 50km challenge, which goes from The Needles along the southern tip of the island and finishes at Culver Down.
