Henderson County (Aug 1, 2022) - Ninety-six years after community leaders dedicated a new Hendersonville High School on Eighth Avenue West and seven years after Henderson County commissioners, School Board members, City Council members and Bearcat alumni embarked on a protracted, often contentious negotiation of what a new HHS would look like, community leaders will dedicate the finished product.
Today’s batch of burning questions, my smart-aleck answers and the real deal:
Question: New Leicester Highway has been under construction for a long time. Completion date was to be in 2020, yet there seems to be no end in sight. It’s a big undertaking, but why the delay? And when can we expect completion?
My answer: The DOT could save a lot of time answering questions if they just changed their signs to read: Construction ahead. No end in sight.
Real answer: This project has been ongoing for six years now, and back in a September 2018 Answer Man column the DOT told me said the expected completion date was August 2020. That date clearly came and went.
