SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – Back in January of this year a welfare check for an individual in a parked vehicle at 5th and Memorial Blvd resulted in a grim discovery. The driver was deceased. The cause of death, according to Springfield Police, was an apparent fentanyl overdose.
During the July 2021 term of the Robertson County Grand Jury, a true bill with a sealed indictment was issued for Daniel Ray West, 37, a Greenbrier native, for second-degree murder in the case.

The indictment was the result of an investigation led by the Springfield Police Department Narcotics Division and the District Attorney’s Office. The indictment alleges that Daniel West sold and delivered fentanyl to the victim in the parking lot of the Tennessee Quick Cash in January of 2021. The victim had overdosed and was found deceased by Springfield Police Department after they received a 911 call for a welfare check.
