NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) â FBI agents raided the homes of former Tennessee House Speaker Glen Casada and other Republican allies early Friday morning, as well as their legislative offices, as part of an unspecified probe into possible public corruption.
NewsChannel 5 spotted agents working the halls of the Cordell Hull Building in downtown Nashville where legislative offices are located. An FBI agent stood guard outside the Franklin Republican s legislative office, while other agents were seen leaving offices of Reps. Robin Smith, R-Hixson, and Kent Calfee, R-Kingston.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) Federal agents served search warrants at the homes and legislative offices of several Republican Tennessee lawmakers early Friday morning.
Agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigation were visible at the Cordell Hull building in Nashville, where they were searching offices, including that of former Tennessee House Speaker Glen Casada, according to Clarksville Now news partner WKRN, Channel 2.
The office of Rep. Kent Calfee, a Republican from East Tennessee, was also searched.
A source told News 2 the FBI also searched Casada’s residence early Friday morning, as well as the homes of several other Republican lawmakers.

FBI agents searched the legislative offices or homes of former house speaker Glen Casada and three other Republican lawmakers Friday morning. It is still unclear what prompted the search, but the House’s current speaker, Cameron Sexton, says those searched have been placed on administrative leave.
“Since becoming speaker, I was contacted by federal authorities regarding an ongoing investigation related to the former speaker’s office,” Sexton told reporters Friday in a press conference, though he did not specify when they first made contact. “I have been, and I will continue to be, in full cooperation with the authorities as they continue their investigation.”

A spokesperson for the U.S. Attorney s Office confirmed the FBI s presence and involvement in on-going searches, but would not elaborate on the focus of the investigation.
