TUSCUMBIA â Opening season for Heinie Manush Field in Tuscumbia is celebrated on Saturday, April 17 with two old style baseball games beginning at noon and a host of other events all day.
Heinie Manush Day was first promoted as part of the Alabama bicentennial. The event was so successful, that a non profit was formed to make Heinie Manush Day an annual event. The Manush Family is very involved and want to leave this as their legacy,â according to Heinie Manush Day, chairperson, Annie Cooper.
Heinie Manush Day, Inc. has partnered with the Tennessee Association of Vintage Baseball and we are working together to continue this baseball event. We will be playing two games,â Cooper added. âThe first one is with the league and the second is with volunteers. We have interest from several citizens and also the police and fire department.â Gates open at 10:30am.
