Mystikal can breathe a sigh of relief as a grand jury has dismissed rape charges against the New Orleans rapper as of Thursday, Dec. 17, 2020.
A representative with the Caddo Parish District Attorney’s office told
TMZ, “A grand jury found there wasn’t enough evidence to move forward with the charges and decided to dismiss the charges.”
Mystikal’s attorney, Joel Peace, also told
TMZ, “The charges went away because “new scientific evidence emerged causing the Grand Jury to take a second look at the rape allegations made against [him].”
Caddo Parish, LA – Mystikal reportedly won’t face any further legal repercussions from a previous first-degree rape charge. According to KSLA 12 in Shreveport, Louisiana, Caddo Parish grand jury dropped all charges on Thursday (December 17), returning a No True Bill against the 50-year-old rap legend (real name Michael Tyler).
[Editor’s note: No True Bill is a legal procedure to dismiss charges against a defendant when the grand jury does not find enough evidence to charge the defendant with violating a law.]
Following Mystikal’s initial 2017 arrest, a Caddo grand jury indicted the “Shake Ya Ass” rapper on one count each of first-degree rape and second-degree kidnapping. Then this second grand jury reconsidered the case.
