A forest fire raging on the largest of Spain s Canary Islands, Tenerife, has spread to 12,813 hectares (31,661 acres), the government of the Canary Islands said on Sunday.
Around 150 people have been evacuated from more than five villages (Arrate, Chivisaya, Media Montana, Ajafona, and Las Lagunetas) in the northeast of the island so far. This area primarily consists of farms and holiday homes.
The forest fire declared between Arafo and Candelaria in Tenerife is out of control, with an affected area of over 1,800 hectares and a perimeter of 22 kilometres.
