The St. Louis County Board agreed Tuesday to pay $190,000 to the former owners of the Pastoret Terrace building in Duluth, settling a lawsuit brought against the county in 2017. I will only say this is awfully tough to swallow, Commissioner Keith Nelson said at the board meeting in Virginia.
Nelson was the only commissioner to address the settlement as the board voted unanimously, 7-0, to clip its last tether to the troubled building in downtown Duluth.

St. Louis County is ready to wipe its hands of the Pastoret Terrace building.
The St. Louis County Board will vote Tuesday at its meeting in Virginia on a $190,000 settlement agreement to a lawsuit brought in 2017 by two former owners of the building, Paul King and Eric Ringsred.
The suit alleged the county foreclosed on the property too quickly, denying any chance at a repurchase, as well as unlawful seizure and sale by the county to the Duluth Economic Development Authority in 2016, when King still held partial claim to the tax-forfeited property in downtown Duluth.
