A $124.9 million bond proposal to expand and update Temple College facilities will be decided by voters on May 1.
The proposal, if approved, would call for a major expansion of the schoolâs Health Sciences Center to address a shortage of health care workers as well as providing updates to several college buildings that are 50 to 60 years old.
âTemple College has a long-standing commitment of providing affordable and quality higher education opportunities for over 95 years,â TC President Christy Ponce said. âWe have been trusted for generations, we are building for the future.â
âIf approved, the new facilities could be completed by 2026 when Temple College will be celebrating its 100th anniversary,â she said. âThese campus advancements would represent an important milestone in Temple Collegeâs history of being trusted for generations and building for the future.â

TEMPLE, TX â Located right off of Loop 363 in Temple sits Temple College, home to nearly 5,000 students, otherwise known as Temple College Leopards.
âItâs a great corridor for community members to know that this, this is their community college,â said Dr. Christy Ponce, the collegeâs president. âWe re here for them and to train them for the future.â
While sheâs proud of the campus, Dr. Ponce explained how many parts of it are outdated. Multiple classrooms are overflowing with students, especially for those interested in the nursing program.

TEMPLE, TX â The Temple College Board of Trustees is asking voters to consider an almost $125 million bond issue during the upcoming May 1 election.
According to the college, the bond would create facilities and provide the technology needed to prepare students for 21st century careers.
The bond would allow for several projects, including the expansion and renovation of the Health Sciences Center and the construction of a new Temple College Center.
If the bond is approved, the new facilities would be completed by 2025, when Temple College will celebrate its 100th anniversary.
