On the Town: Western Heritage Awards to be September highlight By: Lillie-Beth Brinkman The Journal Record February 26, 2021 Lillie-Beth Brinkman The National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum has announced winners of its most prestigious awards. The Western Heritage Awards, set for Sept. 17 and 18, will honor some of the biggest names in popular film, literature and television. Among high-profile winners this year are productions that star actors Tom Hanks and Kevin Costner. The event has been expanded to honor individuals from both 2020 and 2021. Literature award recipients: are “The King of Taos: A Novel” by the late Max Evans, in the Western Novel category; “Sand Creek and the Tragic End of a Lifeway” by Louis Craft, in the nonfiction book category; “Making a Hand: The Art of H.D. Yellowstone wins Award from National Cowboy Museum in OKC

I have yet to meet a person that has watched Paramount s Yellowstone that hasn t raved about it.  I admit that I m a little late to the party, but in my defense, I didn t have access to Paramount on my television provider.  I even went as far as buying Season 1 and Season 2 on DVD so I could catch up before I watched Season 3. Amazon.com The show is about cowboys, ranchers more specifically, with sweeping landscapes and what I believe is some of the more realistic portrayals of ranch life.  It s no wonder that a show of this magnitude could win an award from the National Cowboy Museum.
