Begging on the streets robs PWDs of their dignity – Disability Forum – Ghana Visions

+ The Disability Forum of Ghana at the weekend asked government to empower Persons with Disability (PWDs) to make them stop begging on the streets as the practice robs them of their dignity.    “Nobody would beg for anything; it’s because life has not been fair to them and so they end up on the streets,” Mr Alex Tetteh, the President of the Disability Forum, said.    Speaking in an interview at Tema, he said it was embarrassing to see PWDs, who should have been assisted by society, left to begin the hot sun when, with little push, they could have lived meaningful lives.

Tema West Municipal Assembly presents desks to GES

+ The Tema West Municipal Assembly has presented 180 dual desks to the Municipal Directorate of the Ghana Education Service for onward distribution to public schools within the Municipality.   The Assembly through its Common Fund procured the desks to meet the increasing enrolment needs in public schools and to enhance quality education in basic schools. Mrs Adwoa Amoako, Municipal Chief Executive, Tema West Municipal Assembly, speaking at a brief handing over ceremony said the desks, which had arrived timeously were meant among other things, to promote quality education. She said the assembly recognised educational infrastructure as vital to improving academic excellence, as such it would continue to provide such infrastructure.

Carlos Ahenkora steals show as he takes COVID-19 vaccination

Mr Carlos Kingsley Ahenkora, Member of Parliament for Tema West on Tuesday took the COVID-19 vaccine jab. He calls on the residents who qualified under the first phase to participate. Mr Ahenkora together with the wife took the first shot of the vaccine to demonstrate to the constituents in particular and Ghanaians in general that, it was safe to take the vaccine. Mrs Adwoa Amoako, Municipal Chief Executive, Tema West Municipal Assembly, also with the husband were among the first group of personalities to take the jab and said the vaccine was the surest way to get immunity against the COVID-19 virus.
