The Hungarian PM did not mention the country-wide teachers' strike which was ongoing as he spoke on state radio, but said that he was ready to fight some "big battles" to make sure Hungary is granted exemption in some areas, if there is a ninth EU sanctions package.
The panel found that the establishment of the Eötvös Loránd Research Network was in breach of the Fundamental Law by omission, but it did not annul the law. The institution, which is detached from the MTA, can continue to operate.
The decision was made due to the long-standing shortcomings in matters of the rule of law and democracy. Fidesz says there is a political witch-hunt going on against Hungary.
