ST. PAUL Gov. Tim Walz and state health officials are reviewing new federal safety recommendations that would see citizens fully vaccinated against COVID-19 go without face masks in most settings, according to the governor s spokesperson.
Walz is expected to address the recommendations and what effect they will have on state guidelines later today, spokesperson Teddy Tschann said in an email. Earlier this afternoon, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced that those who have been fully vaccinated can resume a host of indoor and outdoor activities without masks or practicing social distancing.

Gov. Tim Walz s administration is pushing to impose the new rule for the 2025 model year to address climate change. Republicans and auto dealers fiercely oppose the change and are trying to slam the brakes using state budget negotiations.
Walz viewed Friday s decision from Jessica Palmer-Denig, the administrative law judge, as good news for our state, said Teddy Tschann, a spokesman for the governor.

Mayo Clinic, Olmsted Public Health team up with Rochester Public Schools to scan the air for COVID
Several prominent organizations in Rochester are teaming up on a pilot project with the hopes of being able to detect positive cases of COVID-19 a little faster than normal.
On Tuesday, the Rochester School Board approved a research request from Mayo Clinic that ideally will be able to detect COVID-19 pathogens in the air. The board approved the study unanimously after discussing the proposal with representatives from Mayo Clinic, Olmsted Public Health, and the company Thermo Fisher Scientific.

According to an emailed statement from Walz s spokesperson, Teddy Tschann, the governor will announce a timeline to end COVID-19 restrictions in the state in a live address at noon on Thursday. The plan will also include doubling down on vaccination efforts.
According to the state s COVID-19 Vaccine Data, as of Monday, 46.7% of all Minnesotans have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine, including 36.1% of Minnesotans who have completed the vaccine series. The vaccine is here and it has proven to be our best tool to control the virus, the statement said. It’s time to roll up our sleeves, get vaccinated, and crush the virus.”
