Black Hawks Finish 3 Game Weekend With a Shoot Out Win Over Omaha It was a wild weekend for the Black Hawks with three games covering every edge of the emotional spectrum. From a heart-breaking loss on Friday night at Omaha, to a crazy game at Des Moines Saturday night where over 120 minutes in penalties were called, followed by an exhilarating shoot-out victory over the Lancers on Sunday afternoon in Party Town. SUNDAY VS OMAHA Former Omaha Lancer, Alex Gaffney started and finished a 4-3 shootout victory versus his ex-team, pushing the Black Hawks past the Lancers Sunday at Young Arena. In a thrilling finish, Gaffney snuck the puck past the Omaha goalie on a back-hander to bring Black Hawks fans to their feet in celebration (see the video below).

Waterloo started their three game road trip at the USHL'S Western Conference leading Fargo Force by falling in Fargo last Thursday night by a score of 4-2. Then they played two games in Sioux Falls on Friday and Saturday night.

(KELO.com) The Sioux Falls Stampede were upset 6-4 to the Waterloo Black Hawks after a four-goal third period by the visitors at the PREMIER Center Saturday night. Michael Citara, Jack Smith, Reid Pabich and Mack Motzko all scored for the Herd in the game, while Trent Burnham made the start in net, stopping 29 of 34 shots on net. The Stampede opened the scoring for the second-straight night against the Black Hawks with a goal from forward Michael Citara on the power play. Defenseman Brent Johnson was able to put a puck on net that squirted out to Citara who sent a behind-the-back pass to the slot. The puck deflected off a Waterloo skate and past goaltender Emmett Croteau into the back of the net. Waterloo forward Teddy Lagerback responded a minute later with a goal to tie the game heading into the first intermission.

Waterloo survived the Sioux City Musketeers scoring a pairs of goals separated by less than 20 seconds Saturday, and went on to a 4-3 road win at the Tyson Events Center. The Black Hawks Matt Argentina scored the only goal in the first period on an unassisted breakaway. Sioux City took their only lead of the night during the first minute of the second period, with goals just 18 seconds apart, thanks to a power play and a takeaway. Waterloo s Kyler Kleven responded with a goal, assisted by Max Sasson and Casey Severo. Just 11 seconds later, the Hawks to the lead once again. Then Teddy Lagerback took a bounce back Ryan O Hara and stuck it in the net. The Hawks Charlie Glockner finished the game with 32 saves.

Black Hawks Split On Their Weekend Road Trip After suffering their 6th loss in a row, on Friday at Omaha by a score of 5-2, Waterloo reversed that score on Saturday night at Sioux Falls and broke the losing streak with a 5-2 victory over the Stampede. The Black Hawks are now in 7th place in the USHL s Western Conference, jumping ahead of last place Lincoln. And now, hopefully, the team will start a slow climb back into contention. SATURDAY NIGHT AT SIOUX FALLS The Black Hawks scored multiple power play goals for the third consecutive game, as they beat the Sioux Falls Stampede, 5-2 at the Sanford Premier Center on Saturday night.
