The Tikigaq Harpooners of Point Hope are the repeat State 2A Boys Basketball champions with a convincing 83-49 victory over runner-up Tok Wolverines at the state basketball finals held at Palmer High School in the Mat-Su Valley last weekend.
The Harpooners bested Scammon Bay in the quarterfinals and rolled over Glennallen in the semifinals on their way to the championship game. The Harpooners were led in scoring by sophomore Joelian Lane with 27 and followed by senior Henry Kowunna with 19 and Gevin Oenga with 17 points. Lane, Kowunna and Oenga were all chosen for the All-Tournament team. Kowunna led all players with seven defensive blocked shots and 11 rebounds.
