Obviously things are still moving fast and furious here in the building as theyre kind of wrapping up business for the legislative break that theyre about to take. You know, this is a really neat opportunity because our first visitor for this afternoon has quite a reputation and a resume, if you will, on these issues in the u. S. House of representatives. Senator Marsha Blackburn has immediately become a stalwart in the senate on all of these issues. Can you tell us about the gas shut off . Because safety is our top priority, we were looking at the situation moment by moment and as the sinkhole continued to grow we decided it was hazardous. We needed to get back out and shut it off. We used our valve system to shut off seven valves. That impacts 2,500 customers. Their gas has been impacted. We are going to be working through the night and through the day to make sure we restore service safely and as quickly as possible. People will miss the hot shower. Can you give always rough estimate . It is a work in progress, i know, of when the street is reopened and when people get their gas back . The street will depend on the sinkhole. That is something the town of moraga will have impacted. As forgetting service back we are bringing in 100 gas service representatives. These folks will go doortodoor and turn on gas. We will work through the night, through the day making sure that we do all of to safely and quickly as possible and have folk
Protests continue there on the streets. And their desire to reach a just and impartial verdict doesnt always work. Thats the nature of the system but i have every confidence that it will work in the future. Its just a bump along the road to justice. Of bumps. Again, most hung injuries get retried and those that get retried are usually 70 or so in favor of conviction, about 20 something percent in favor of youve been listening into a News Conference law norgsment officials talking about the hung jury which was seen as a blow. People are now in front of the courthouse. Theyre protesting the judges announcement, which you can see here from up above. The jury was locked in intense deliberations for the past two days, even telling the judge yesterday they were deadlocked. And now with the jury unable to declared this a mistrial and the Police Officer on trial is charged with manslaughter.
