stewart plans to stay on the job until later this year. so far he gave no reason for his departure. those are some of our top stories on this wednesday, february 11th. announcer: from abc news, this is world news now. thank you for spending time with us. we have to begin with new details about the death of american hostage kayla mueller. the pentagon says mueller did not die in a jordanian air strike as isis claimed. little else is revealed about the circumstances of her death but the president is paying tribute to her. here s abc s ted rowlands. reporter: there s still questions about the tragic death of kayla mueller. over the weekend her family receiving a private message from isis captors that included photos of her body. that information was shared with the intelligence community. they concluded that kayla has in fact died. reporter: isis claimed last friday the 26-year-old american aide worker was killed in a jordanian air strike, but offered no public proof.
by any means necessary, for their children to be safe. reporter: ted rowlands, abc news, los angeles. disturbing information about americans fighting for isis. intelligence agencies believe as many as 150 americans have tried or succeeded in reaching the war zone. some died there and a small number are fighting with extremists. they are part of a wave of foreign fighters streaming in to iraq and syria to join isis. here at home, a stark terror warning is set to be issued today by top u.s. intelligence officials. since last month, isis posted 250 on-line publications, much of them on social media urging radicals to attack in their home countries including here in the u.s. no specific plot has been identified but a new government estimate says there are a few hundred potentially violent extremists here on u.s. soil. that warning comes on the heels of another hack attack targeting a major american news organization. hackers managed to commandeer the twitter account for newsweek
