Vedic science finds itself in a paradox. On the one hand, Vedic sience benefits from postcolonial and postmodern philosophy which denies universality to Western European modern science. These philosophies protect and legitimize local knowledge systems such as Hindu spirituality. On the other hand, proponents of Vedic science such as Swami Vivekananda and Sri Aurobindo want their Vedic version of science to share the universality currently enjoyed by scientists in every culture around the world.
