The Columbia Star, Columbia’s oldest and only locally owned weekly newspaper, began as The Star-Reporter and was originally founded in 1963 by two journalists (the Bookers) and a salesman (Montgomery) who shared a collective mission to “provide Columbians with the news of themselves, their achievements, their joys and their sorrows, all to which go to make up a full life.”
