He had time to write a half a dozen books for boys in that tradition of books for boys that were so popular in those days back when boys climbed trees and whittled with their pocket knives and had no video games. But young boys were also very interested in aviation which hap was not as a young boy. Nor was he when he was at west point. He graduated in 1907. But when he got the aviation bug, he fell hard.
