For those of us that have grown as a part of it, its something that, you know, is such a part of us that its amazing to think that its 42 years. It goes by really fast. Ive been connected with ha mr. Williams. Ive been here six and a half years, for the last five, you know, ive been with us. Right. And just seeing the turnout, just tell everybody, this is so important to the community. And not just harlem. Right. It is really a celebration of whats going on in harlem 365 years a day thats condensed into the worlds longest week [laughter] so its like you said, its concerts, its film festivals, its Economic Development conferences, its a little bit of everything that really makes up what harlem is. His talk today will be on what he calls the law of amplification. So its a very interesting talk because, you know, here at mit our motto is let us build technology and, obviously, that will solve all of the worlds problems. We think a lot about animals as biomedical models. Its important to know how we are treating animals. So i want to talk a little bit of the history of fixing life and this is something with the new editing tools, these are new on the scene in the last three years, they are cheaper, theyre quicker and easier to use and a lot of people have wondered if we have the capacity to now modify a lot of organisms, should we do it with humans, should we do it before theyre born in maybe the same met metaphor before the cow .
