News of the decision was released the evening of Sunday, Dec. 20.
The game was to have been played Saturday, Dec. 26, with kickoff at 6 p.m.
It would have featured the Army West Point Black Knights and a representative of the Pac-12 Conference, but there was a shortage of teams willing to play in bowl games, according to the official announcement of the cancellation.
Army West Point released the following statement after the cancellation was announced: “These young men haven’t quit all year and we surely won’t quit now. They deserve better. Period. They have earned an opportunity to get 10 wins and, as we have all year, we will continue to fight to get them that opportunity.
