last two hours. an update from american airlines. their computers are coming back online after an outage that briefly impacted their major hubs across the country. now, these include miami, dallas, chicago. and this is inside of chicago o hare from just a short time ago. nbc news correspondent john yang is in chicago. it s a tech issue that happened and the faa said we need to shut you down? reporter: well, actually, tom, it s american airlines that asked for the ground stop at the three airports, chicago o hare, miami and dallas/ft. worth. they were having trouble with their reservations systems. they couldn t check people in at the airport on their computers. i can tell you now that at o hare at least things are back up. they ve loaded planes back they ve started resuming loading planes about 45 minutes ago and planes are taking off. american airlines flights now leaving from o hare, american airlines tells us that about ten flights were delayed.
