your great grandfather karl fell to his death during an act when he was 73. you were one trip away, aren t you, from calamity? it is true. but it comes down to training and preparation. the reason my great grandfather lost his life, that wire was rigged improperly which caused him to go down to the safety of that wire and he did that. the sad part was he was 73 and had a double hernia and injured collarbone and couldn t hold on. i ve trained since i was 2 to go down and grab that wire. if there were any issues, that wire is always a safe haven and gravity s always going to pull me down. we knew the winds wouldn t be strong enough to pick me off the wire. had i rescue teams standing by. it is dangerous what we do for sure. this sad loss of life is just proof of that. yeah, very sad for her and sad for cirque du solei. nik wallenda thank you very much for joining me. we ll be right back after the break. out there owning it.
