‘Very distraught’: Witness to deadly shooting outside Columbus nightclub says community needs to do better

COLUMBUS, Ohio A woman who was at a downtown Columbus nightclub when gunshots rang out early Thursday morning said the shooting is very frustrating.
We met Ro, who did not want to disclose her last name, outside in a parking lot along East Main Street. She had returned looking for her car and it was nowhere to be found. She ran from the parking lot when she heard gunshots.
Woman dies after shooting outside Downtown bar
A 26-year-old woman died Thursday morning after a shooting outside a Downtown bar, the second such shooting in two days.
Columbus police said 26-year-old Teaira Harris was found in a parking lot behind The Pelican Room, located at 122 E. Main St., around 1:40 a.m. Thursday. Harris was rushed to OhioHealth Grant Medical Center, but she died from her injuries at 4:21 a.m.
Detectives said witnesses who remained on the scene told them a number of small fights had broken out in the lead-up to the shooting. Several witnesses told detectives, that Harris had displayed a firearm and pointed it at several people.
Greg Davies, former chief of staff for Mayor Andrew J. Ginther, has been named CEO of the Columbus Downtown Development Corp. and Capitol South.
Amy Taylor, who had been CDDC s and Capitol South s COO, has been named president. Taylor has been with the organizations for 14 years.
Davies and Taylor were appointed by the CDDC and Capitol South board to replace former President and CEO Guy Worley, whose last day was Monday. Davies and Taylor begin their new roles June 14.
Davies was Ginther s first chief of staff in 2015, helping him put together his cabinet. More recently, he has been vice president of planning and development for the Columbus Partnership, which has recently taken a more-active role in Downtown development.
