Senior Jordyn Kleman became Winona State’s all-time strikeout leader as she led a Warrior comeback effort over Minot State in the loser’s bracket of the NSIC Tournament Thursday.
The Warriors had lost their opening round game 2-1 to St. Cloud State and needed to beat Minot State to stave off elimination.
The Beavers held a 5-3 lead after four, but Kleman came on in relief to throw three shutout innings with six strikeouts while the offense came back to win it with a Teaghen Amwoza walk-off RBI.

The number 20 Winona State softball team used some late game heroics to defeat University of Minnesota Duluth 8-3 in game one of their April 25 doubleheader. That magic couldn’t be replicated in game two however, as the Bulldogs would snap WSU’s season-high, 11-game winning streak with a 4-2 win.
The Warriors move to 28-7 (17-5 conference) after the split while Duluth moves to 25-11 (15-7 conference).
In game one, the story of the first six innings of game one was missed opportunities for the Warriors, as they managed to score just one run while leaving 11 runners on base. Katie Kolb scored the only run of the first six innings for the Warriors on an RBI double by Rylee Stout.

Although the Warriors were held to just five hits in game one, tying their second-lowest hit total of the season, CSP had to contend with Jordyn Kleman who dominated the Golden Bear batting lineup from the opening inning, guiding the Warriors to a 2-0 win.
In game two, Liz Pautz plowed through the CSP order, allowing just four hits and one run.
Late-game heroics help Warriors salvage split against Wolves (4/7/2021)
It was a tale of two games on Saturday for number 13 Winona State University (WSU) softball against Northern State University. Winona State put people on base but struggled to bring them home in a 10-3 opening game loss. Late-game heroics were needed in the second game as Winona State managed come away with a suspenseful 10-9 victory.

In game one, after an incredible 34 runs in their previous two games, Winona State looked like they were going to pick up right where they left off as Abbie Hlas and Teaghen Amwoza scored on an RBI single by Katie Kolb in the second inning to give WSU a 2-0 lead.
