There are videos circulating on social media showing some of the schools in Yasawa and Vanua Levu roof being blown away. In Bua, there were more than 60 people were taking shelter at Coboi Primary School including a two week old and an eight-month-old baby when the roof was blown away. Teachers of Dreketi Primary School in Macuata witnessed the roof being blown away by the category five cyclone on Thursday. National Disaster Management Office director Vasiti Soko said some of the schools will be still closed as some of the infrastructures were destroyed by the category five cyclone.
