同児相のまとめによると、昨年度の虐待対応件数は前年度に比べ５３件減少し、３９９件となった。これまでは実母による虐待が最も多かったが、昨年度は実父からの虐待が１件増の２０２件となり、実母を逆転。全体の５割を超えた。実母からの虐待は５２件減の１６１件だった。
虐待の種類では心理的虐待が２３７件で最も多く、約６割を占めた。実父からの虐待はＤＶを目撃するなどの心理的虐待が目立つ。被虐待児の年代別では小学生が１３４件（３３・６％）で最も多いが、全体的に減少する中で、高校生らが前年度に比べ３件増えた。
