Even in Q1 FY24, TCS had paid out 100 per cent of the variable pay to a major part of its workforce. On the other hand, its peers Infosys and Wipro rolled out only 80 per cent variable pay for the quarter.

“We talk about data and technology on cloud, but talent would also be on the cloud, and we would basically source the best skills from wherever they are available,” Milind Lakkad, chief human resources officer at TCS, told ET.
“This kind of model cannot be realised at scale with resume exchanges and people reaching out to each other analysing jobs and capabilities. So we have been building our next-gen career progression suite of platforms and processes,” said Lakkad. “This spans the entire value chain of right data, democratic career aspirations, preferences, foresight into future roles/skills and algorithmic-talent-marketplace.”
